Rhéni Tauchid (www.rhenitauchid.com) is a writer, painter, and educator. In her professional life, Rhéni is the materials consultant for the Canadian acrylic paint manufacturer Tri-Art Mfg., Inc., a member of the company’s product development team, and the founder of the Tri-Art Acrylic Education Program and the Art Noise studio program. She teaches painting workshops and lectures in Canada and abroad.Rhéni is the author of The New Acrylics: Complete Guide to the New Generation of Acrylic Paints (Watson-Guptill, 2005) and its sequel, New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook: Materials, Techniques, and Contemporary Applications for Today’s Artist (Watson-Guptill, 2009). Her books have been translated into Dutch and German. Acrylic Painting Mediums & Methods, her third book, explores the intricacies and possibilities of acrylic mediums. This book is terrific. It explains all the aspects of acrylic painting (including a bit of chemistry about how and why the products work) in a clear and concise manner. Rheni Tauchid really knows her stuff. The illustrations are very helpful and augment the text well. The paper is heavy and glossy, which is a nice extra and the photography is well done.The techniques are clearly explained in sufficient detail to be very helpful for a beginner as well as an intermediate-range artist. Lots of "so THAT'S how (and why) that works" going on in this reader's mind! Great a-ha moments all the way through.Best of all, the author never talks down to the reader. The book is written is a casual conversational style, as though you are sitting together over a cup of coffee. Truly, if you are going to select only one book for acrylic paint education, this is it! Much better than YouTube videos!
This book is phenomenal. There is truly no other like it. As a self taught artist, I’ve personally found it easier to find resources on technique, than it is to find information on how to really use your materials, but this book encapsulates it all. I was hesitant at first because of its price, but after receiving it, I have absolutely NO regrets. The overall layout is clean and the author does a fantastic job at breaking down what some may consider to be a more “complex conceptâ€. The images are sharp, clear, and the book feels like pure quality. I loved the authors story, and I am grateful to have it. Again, I HIGHLY recommend to any artist who wants to learn how to use their materials, without sacrificing their own style.

Not only a beautiful hardcover beauty , but has the content of everything you really need to Learn not only the fundamentals but the perfect instruction to help any level painter succeed! I love it ! Author is clear concise and picked the most important fundamental information accompanied with gorgeous & clear illustration. I couldn’t be happier ! I’m so happy I didn’t give up and finally got the book I need ! It is not an abstract gimmick book to teach you generic projects - it’s the opposite, genuine instruction guaranteed to surpass your expectations!

I love tis book. It covers the use of the various mediums in an intelligent and thorough way. It could be used as a textbook for a class on acrylic painting. No nonsense about silly things like using a sponge to make texture, etc. The only note is that Alice uses mediums made in Canada, but they easily translate for Golden or Liquitex products.
FAbulous. Tauchid's knowledge about acrylic painting is outstanding. I own each of her books and continue to use them frequently. Her writing is excellent and her ability to generate excitement for painting in general is unmatched. You can't go wrong purchasing any of her helpful books and each offers something different.
well written book on methods of painting as well as in-depth description of the products themselves. Obviously Ms Tauchid works with a brand of paint in particular but that doesn't mean the info doesn't translate to other brands.
I've been working with acrylics for several years but found the explanations and examples in this book extremely helpful. It would have saved me much trial and error in the beginning, but also explains the reason for certain mistakes or unhappy results even now. Mediums are well covered in this book. I think it is an essential book for working in acrylics.... wish there was an equally detailed book for oils which are my greater love!
