We need a better foundation to know what is really in God's heart for us.Let the beautiful and assuring truth clearly shared in this short, very readable book give you a plumbline and a solid foundation from which you can stand tall and live your life in confident in trust, rest, and peace that comes from KNOWING that in all the ways that an infinite, triune God may choose to reveal Himself to you, He is absolutely for you in every one of them.I have read and reread this little book many times. I strongly recommend it to you.
This book is an excellent presentation of the purpose of creation and life. It has three main themes:1 - Adoption: Expounding on Paul's ideas from Ephesians and Colossians, Baxter discusses God's purpose for creating humanity, which is adopting us into the family of the Trinity. This includes sharing in their life, joy, peace, intimacy and all that good stuff. He does an incredible job of describing that God has been FOR us since before we even came into existence by describing God's plan for the whole thing and how Christ fully accomplished the Father's will.2 - Incarnation: Baxter goes into the gospel of Jesus Christ and why he became man. There was some good stuff in here, but he honestly lost me a little bit in this section, which is somewhat understandable considering the complexity of the subject matter.3 - Our Confusion: Even though the section on adoption was great, this was my favorite part of the book. He answers the inevitable question of "If Jesus already did all this stuff, then why don't I experience it?" Boiling it all down, it's basically the profound blindness and deception of our souls which have believed a lie. Holy Spirit was sent to open our eyes and souls to the truth of Jesus Christ and our adoption.Overall, phenomenal book. Baxter does tend to repeat himself throughout the book, and as I said the incarnation section lost me a little bit, but overall it's well worth the read and paints a very encouraging picture of the Trinity, what they're like, and their commitment to not only you and me but the entire human race.
There is so many things that I could say, but I will condense it to this: if you are a person looking for the character and nature of God- not conjecture- but a Scriptural explanation of the purpose and intent of humanity, from God's perspective, then this is a great place to start. One of the best books I've ever read. I highly recommend reading all his stuff, perhaps starting with Jesus and the Undoing of Adam, and then Jesus: Across All Worlds.Thanks for the great insight Baxter. You are a real blessing.
A friend bought this book 4 years ago, I took the book to take a cursory look but, couldn't drop it. I just couldn't!!! This book is absolutely exciting. I have read it over and over and over and over again; the truth shared by Baxter Kruger in this book could make you cry, jump, scream...all in awe of the unspeakable, inexhaustible love of God for us. I had to buy the book for myself to re-read and re-connect with the energy and timeless truth that filled every letter spelt out in GOD IS FOR US. Simply mind-blowing!
A clear biblical unveiling of why attempting to live a "Christian" life is forever elusive. Baxter calls us to step into the life Christ offers His disciples. I love a book that challenges me to examine my walk with God in light of His Word - living, written, and Spirit.
Just finished, and am blown away. This may be the most concise and powerful exposition of the Gospel that I have ever read. It is THE starting point for understanding a thoroughgoing Christo-centric Trinitarian theology!
This book was recommended to me by a friend who also ponders the mystery of God's love. I was caught up in the author's exuberant descriptions of a relentless love for His creation and how as Jesus Christ, God incarnate He replaced fallen humanity with perfect humanity to bring us back into communion with God. And the description of how the Holy Spirit brings our souls into revelation of this great love is very insightful. I would highly recommend this book.
This profound book, expressing the heart of our Heavenly Father, is a must for all who want to get more intimate with their Creator. It is pure refreshing Living Water! I'm so grateful to Baxter Kruger for sharing what the Holy Spirit has enlightened him with! Please read it before you waste any more time on earth!!!!!
