This is a classic book written around WWI and has some valuable descriptions, takedown and reassembly information on the long arms of the time. I can't recommend the Kindle version, as it was the result of a very poorly edited optical scan and full of words mis-spelled, destroyed tables and misplaced drawings. Amazon needs to commission better proofreading. This one was not good.
For the absolute beginner, this is a good place to start. Experienced shooters will find much to think about. Experts will discover some insights. I am fond of Townsend Whelen, a great American, a remarkable man. This book is part of the canon.
